Laptop CD DVD Drives: How to Choose the Right Laptop Drive

Laptop CD DVD drives allow you to set up a multimedia system that meets your personal or business computing needs and wants. There are five basic laptop drive options to choose from when deciding whether you want a CD drive, a DVD drive, or both. You may choose more than one option when customizing a new laptop computer or buying a refurbished laptop. Having dual laptop drives will allow you to complete two tasks at the same time. The decision is up to you and it's worth thinking about how you are going to use a laptop before you buy one. The lowest-priced new laptops on the market typically come with at least a laptop CD DVD combo drive that lets you burn CDs and watch DVDs. Some low-priced laptops do come with a DVD burner that lets you burn both CDs and DVDs. Here are the 5 options to choose from when selecting laptop CD DVD drives:

1) CD-ROM laptop drive: Listen to CDs and load software from CDs.
2) DVD-ROM laptop drive: Listen to CDs, view DVDs, and load software from CDs and DVDs.

3) CD-RW laptop drive: Listen to CDs, load software from CDs, and burn CDs.

4) CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo laptop drive: Listen to CDs, view DVDs, load software from CDs & DVDs, and burn CDs.

5) DVD-RW(DVD Burner) laptop drive: Listen to CDs, view DVDs, load software from CDs & DVDs, and burn CDs & DVDs.

As I mentioned above almost all new laptops on the market today come with laptop drive option 4(CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo drive) or option 5(DVD Burner). Some new laptops also offer Blu-Ray Disc laptop drives that allow you to watch and/or burn Blu-Ray Discs as well as burn CDs and DVDs. Where the other three types of laptop CD DVD drives come into play is when you want a second(dual) laptop drive so that you can perhaps write to one laptop drive while reading data from the other. Or maybe you want to watch a DVD while burning CDs. It's totally up to you and how you are going to use your laptop computer. The bottom line is that it's worth verifying what kind of laptop CD DVD drives are offered on the specific laptop model you are considering buying. If the laptop drive specifications don't meet your personal or business computing needs then look to see if customization is available and whether you can upgrade to the next level of laptop drive systems.
